Rules and Regulations:

 

Texas Off Road National (referred to as TORN hereinafter) rules and regulations are as follows.  TORN officials have the right to refuse any person or persons to enter and/or participate in any practice or race at any given TORN event.  TORN officials also reserve the right to retract any person or persons off the property at any TORN event for failure to comply with any given rules or regulations.  Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in penalty, including disqualification.  Off road racing is a dangerous and voluntary sport, therefore no rider, spectator or any other persons shall have any claim for and to any vehicle, personal injury or death.

2.  Rider Classification

 

TORN officials will determine status of a rider’s ability ie. Expert,  Intermediate, Amateur. Once a rider is classified he/she will remain in that classification unless the rider submits a written request for consideration for reclassification to TORN officials.

 

A.  Big Bike and Age Classes

     1.  A rider must ride the motorcycle with the correct factory cc sizes for the class:

          “125-200": 85cc-200cc

          “250": 201cc-250cc (includes 250F)

          Open: 100cc and up

     2. Over 30, Over 38, Over 45, Over 52, Over 58 must present a valid ID with proof of age.

     3.  Age classes are divided into Expert, Intermediate, and Amateur.

     4.  Any size bike may be ridden in the age classes.

    

B.  Mini’s

     1.  A rider must ride the motorcycle with the correct factory cc sizes for the class:

         65-105cc 2-stroke with 16" wheel or less

         70-150cc 4-stroke with 16" wheel or less

     2.  Age limit for Mini classes will be 15 years on January 1st of the start of race year.

     3.  Proof of age and Legal Guardian signature will be required at sign up.

     4.  Mini classes will be divided into Expert, Intermediate, and Amateur.

 

C.  Pee-Wee:

     1.  A rider must ride the motorcycle with the correct factory cc sizes for the class:                          

          Pee Wee 50 bike: 0-50cc

          Pee Wee 65 bike: 50cc-65cc up to and including XR70, PW80, DS80, JR80, TTR90, and KLX110

          w/stock 12" rear wheel.

     2.  A 65ccPee Wee rider will  be allowed to race both the PeeWee and a Mini/Ladies class.

     3.  Age limit for PeeWee 50 will be 10 and PeeWee 65 will be 12 years old on January 1st of the start

          of race year.

     4.  Proof of age and Legal Guardian signature will be required at sign up.

 5.  Pee Wee classes will be divided into Expert, Intermediate, and Amateur.

D.  Ladies Classes

     1.  Ladies may rider any size bike.

     2.  Ladies will be divided into Expert, Intermediate, and Amateur and Over 30 Amateur.

 

3. Sign Up

    1. Entry forms will be located at front gate. 

    2. Numbers and backgrounds are available at sign ups for $2.00/set

        Saturday @ 7:00am

        Sunday @ 7:30am

 

4.  Practice

     1. Open practice for big bikes Saturday 7:30am - 11:30 &  Sunday 7:30am-8:30am

     2. Open practice for Pee Wee Saturday 7:30am - 11:30 & Sunday 7:30am-8:30am

     3. Practice will end when a red flag is posted at starting line.

 

5.  Track Layouts

     1. Big bike tracks will consist cross country with some motocross.

     2. Pee Wee tracks will be totally separate except for scoring chute will be the same as big bike.

     3.  Scoring chute is not open during practice.

 

6.  Event Awards

     Awards will be given 1st - 3rd place of each class after official results are posted.

 

7.  Pro Purse will be as follows:

     1st-600

     2nd-350

     3rd-250

     4th-175

     5th-125

 

8.  Protests

     All protests must be in writing within 30 minutes of unofficial results being posted.  The rider making

     the protest must have at least one other witness for the protest to be official. 

 

9.  Pit Riding

1. Four wheelers, mules, pit bikes, etc. will be allowed under zero tolerance for misuse or endangering other people.  Action will be taken for those who do not pit ride responsibly.  No racing, wheelies, or horse playing on pit vehicles is allowed.

2.  ALL pit vehicles must have rider number displayed on front or rear of vehicle.

 

10.  Safety Regulations/Equipment-

      1.  Four wheelers are not allowed on the marked track for any reason on race weekends.

      2.  Protective gear is mandatory (helmet, boots, shirt, shoulder pads and full length pants.

           Protective eye wear anytime on race track is strongly recommended.

      3.  It is strongly recommended that no person under 16 allowed to ride motorcycle, four wheeler or

           any pit vehicle without helmet.

      4.  Maximum speed in pits is 10mph.

 

11. Move-ups

 1. Riders moving up a class voluntarily will receive points based on their finish in the class they are

 moving into.  If you are bumped you will receive points based on your finish in the class you are    

 bumped to.  You are only allowed to carry these points within the FIRST 4 races of the season. 

 Lateral  moves made within the FIRST 2 races of the season will carry points based on how they

 finish in their new class, but after 2 races, last place points will be carried.

2.  If a rider requests to move down or is moved down by Torn official, last place points are given.

 

12.  Mandatory Bumps

       1.  After 1st event of the year it is TORN discretion if a rider has unrealistic lap times and must be 

            bumped.

       2.  If TORN feels you have unrealistic lap times you are considered SANDBAGGING so pick the class

            you belong in.

 

 13.  Rider Conduct/Discipline

       1.  Riders are not to shorten the track in any way such as cutting out obstacles or taking trick

            lines (cutting inside of ribbon or marked trail). Such infractions may result in disqualification.

       2.  Riders leaving the track for any reason must re-enter at same place.

       3.  Penalty for track cutting will be up to a DNF.

       4.  Penalty for unrealistic lap times will be up to a DNF.

       5.  Anyone found modifying the track other than a TORN official will be penalized disqualification or    

            even expulsion from the track.

       6.  No passengers on bikes on race track at anytime other than injured or broken down riders.

       7.  Penalty for letting another person ride for you will be up to disqualification by TORN officials.

       8.  Riders without proper numbers and background will be given one warning, and then second will

            be  up to a DNF.

       9.  Anyone practicing after the red flag is out, including starts, will be subject to disciplinary action,

            up  to disqualification.

     10.  If any officially designated spotter turns a rider in for a rule infraction, the rider will be penalized.

     11.  Pit racers and/or family members may be requested to leave the premises.

     12.  All racers committing starting line infractions (jump starts, rolling starts, or practice starts

            under a red flag) will be penalized by being black flagged for time left up to official.

     13.  It takes 2 people, racers or spectators to turn in a racer who has cut the track.  Penalties are left

            up to TORN official.

     14.  You must finish the race on the same bike you started.

 

14.  Scoring

      1.  In order to receive finishing points, a rider must finish the minimum amount of time unassisted,

           and  have his/her finish recorded by a TORN official.  Minimum amount of time consists of 50%

           of your timed event.

      2.  Racers must start the race and make one complete lap recorded by an official to receive 5 points.

      3.  All riders are required to SLOW DOWN in the scoring chute to have their numbers recorded

           properly.

      4.  All riders will be required to purchase and install an electronic scoring transponder.  If the  

           transponder is lost the rider must purchase another at his/her expense.

      5.  The TORN series will consist of 10 events with one drop allowed for all classes (including Pro).  All

           classes must  race at least 7 events to be eligible for year end awards.
